About The Lifestyle Reserve™

The Lifestyle Reserve helps people build strength, resilience, independence, and healthy longevity through practical, sustainable lifestyle strategies.

The Moment Everything Changed

I am 61 years old. At 59, I weighed 235 pounds. My blood pressure was uncontrollable. My cholesterol was medicated. I had chronic pain, breathing issues, and protein leaking into my urine.

I found myself sitting in a hospital emergency room waiting area during a heart attack scare. I looked around the room at the people surrounding me — worn down, unwell, waiting. I recognized myself in them. That was my mirror. I got up, walked out, and made a decision that this was not going to be my destiny.

Forty Years, Hidden in Plain Sight

For four decades, I drank and used marijuana while staying fully functional — productive, always showing up, first one up and last to leave the party. High-functioning addiction is a convincing mask. It never blocked out the look on the faces of people who loved me, watching me choose, again, the thing that was making me less.

The health damage was real. But what still stays with me isn’t that. It’s the conversations I was physically in but not really in.

Turning a Science Degree Into a Survival Tool

I had a Bachelor of Science degree collecting dust, so I used it. I looked at my own health data the way a scientist looks at numbers, not the way a desperate person searches for shortcuts. Over the following two years, I went further and formally earned my credentials as a Certified Professional Trainer and a Certified Nutrition Specialist, so that what I was doing would be grounded in methods that actually produce results.

My Weight Loss After 60: A Case Study of One

Weight loss after 60 isn’t supposed to work this well — but today, at 61, I weigh 170 pounds: 75 pounds of fat lost, 10 pounds of lean muscle gained. I’m off all cholesterol medications. My blood pressure is controlled. Recent metabolic testing puts my metabolic age at 51 — a 10-year reversal in two years.

I share these numbers not to impress anyone, but as a clean, documented case study of what a flexible, consistent system can do. I did this entirely at home, with no weight-loss medication, no extreme protocols, and no gym membership.

Everything on this site and in my book reflects my personal protocols, my lab results, and what worked in my body. Before duplicating any nutritional framework, calorie target, fasting window, or training volume you find here, please sit down with your own primary care physician and establish your medical baseline. What I did was built on my specific starting point. Yours is different, and your doctor is the right person to help you map a safe entry point for your body.

The Four Pillars Behind Everything I Teach

I didn’t learn these in a random order — I lived them in this exact sequence.

It started with Mindset and Identity: learning to spot the bad habits and recurring pitfalls that kept resetting my progress back to zero, then building a routine that felt like an enjoyable lifestyle instead of a chore.

From there came Nutrition and Weight Management — real planning, real kitchen habits, no shortcuts. Alongside it, Physical Fitness: real movement knowledge, basic strength targets, and scheduled persistence, week after week.

The piece most health programs quietly skip is Recovery — sleep, stress reduction, and giving the body room to actually adapt. I didn’t discover how much it mattered until I was deep into the process, and once I did, everything else started working better too.

Why The Lifestyle Reserve Exists

The leaner, sharper, stronger version of yourself isn’t reserved for genetic lottery winners. It’s not locked behind a personal trainer you can’t afford or a motivation that only shows up on New Year’s Day. It’s the logical, predictable outcome of building the right systems — one honest upgrade at a time.

I built The Lifestyle Reserve to hand you that system: a working template from someone who’s already done the testing, not a rigid prescription and not a memoir. Take what fits, adapt what doesn’t, and let’s get to work.
